Specimen Requirements and Processing
Draw a full 7mL plain, pink-top tube.
Use patient sticker of mom and baby on tube.
Please complete a Blood Bank Request Form, and forward it with the specimen.
Specimen Rejection
- Improperly labeled, quantity not sufficient, hemolyzed and improper collection.
- Serum gel tube is not acceptable.
Storage and Stability
Specimen may be used for testing for 72 hours if sample is sufficient.

Determine ABO group and Rho(D)
DIRECT IgG COOMBS
Negative (reported as positive or negative)
Includes a direct Coombs' test and an ABO/Rh Type. Useful for determining ABO group and Rho(D) type and for ruling out hemolytic disease of the newborn due to ABO incompatibility or due to atypical IgG antibodies in the mother.
