Methodology

Useful for determining the nature and identity or non-specificity of immunoglobulin coating red cells.

Specimen Requirements

Draw a full, plastic, pink-top (EDTA) tube (pediatric: 1 full, MICROTAINER). (Serum gel tube is not acceptable.) Avoid hemolysis.

Note: Label specimen in ink with patient’s full name, date of birth, hospital medical record number, date and time of draw, and initials of phlebotomist.
