Fresh Whole Blood- Two EDTA Lavender Top Tubes, Bone Marrow Aspirate

2 mL minimum

Specimen Rejection

  • Improperly labeled, collected, stored, and transported
  • Quantity not sufficient

Storage and Stability

Bone marrow smears may be stored at room temperature for several days

Reference Values

An interpretive report will be provided by a pathologist

Methodology

Manual staining using alpha napthyl acetate esterase kit and naphthol AS-D chloroacetate esterase kit (Sigma)
