Dark Green Lithium Heparin tube or Red top tube

Allow red top to completely clot

Spin and physically separate plasma/serum from contact with cells as soon as possible

4 mL of plasma/serum (minimum 2 mL)

Sample tube must be kept tightly closed to prevent evaporation of alcohol

If not analyzed immediately refrigerate at 2-8^oC for up to 3 days

<10 mg/dL = Not detected

Critical Value: >350 mg/dL
