Specimen Requirements and Processing
Draw 1 full 7 mL pink-top EDTA tube
Note: Label specimen in indelible ink with patient’s full name, date of birth, hospital medical record number, date and time of draw, and initials of phlebotomist.
Special Instructions: Request form: CAMC LabWorks requisition, white Tranfusion Services slip, or Gold Transfusion Services Envelope.
Specimen Rejection
- Improperly labeled, quantity not sufficient, hemolyzed and improper collection.
- Serum gel is not acceptable.
Storage and Stability
Specimen may be used for testing for 72 hours if sample is sufficient
Reference Value
To determine concentrations of alloantibodies in maternal serum. To follow the course of antibody development incases of maternal fetal blood group incompatability (including RH).

Test used to determine concentration of alloantibodies in maternal serum and to follow the course of antibody development in cases of maternal-fetal blood group incompatiblity (including RH). The results of titration studies may contribute to the decision about performing additional procedures. ABO titers for solid organ donors may be performed at the discretion of the transplant surgeon.
