Specimen Requirements

Draw blood in a lavender-top (EDTA) tube. Spin down and send 2 mL of EDTA plasma refrigerated.

Note:

  • Avoid excess fibrin.
  • The following specimens will not be tested: 
    • Heat-treated specimens
    • Hemolyzed specimens
    • Heparinized specimens
    • Icteric specimens
    • Lipemic specimens
    • Obvious microbial contamination
    • Specimens containing particulate matter or red blood cells
    • Specimens containing precipitate
    • Specimens containing sodium azide
  • Draw date and time are required on request form for processing.
