Specimen Requirements

Females

1. Collect posterior vaginal pool secretions using a swab or wooden Pap smear paddle.

2. Place swab in a screw-capped, sterile container.

3. Label container with patient’s full name, date and time of collection, and type of specimen.

4. Maintain sterility and forward promptly at ambient temperature only.

 Males

1. Collect specimen using platinum loop from anterior urethral wall.

2. Place swab in a screw-capped, sterile container.

3. Label container with patient’s full name, date and time of collection, and type of specimen.

4. Maintain sterility and forward promptly at ambient temperature only.
