This test is for Legionella pneumophilia serogroup 1 antigen only. While this serogroup is associated with >80% of Legionella infections, infections due to other serotypes will not be detected with this assay.

Storage and Stability

Specime should be examined as soon as possible.  Store at 4C if delayed.

Reference Values

Negative: No Legionella pneumophila serogroup 1 antigen detected. This does not rule out infection with other serogroups.
Positive: Legionella pneumophila serogroup 1 antigen detected in urine

Useful for detecting qualitatively the presence of Legionella pneumophila serogroup 1 antigen (Legionella pneumophila serogroup A antigen) in human urine as an adjunct to culture for the presumptive diagnosis of past or current legionnaires’ disease.

Specimen Rejection

  • Improperly labeled, collected, stored or transported
  • Quantity not sufficient
