Patient should not ingest aspirin or aspirin-containing drugs 2 weeks prior to the test

Plasma-Light Blue Sodium Citrate

Draw 3-4 full tubes by “clean” venipuncture (no excessive trauma).

Immediately after draw, invert tubes several times to mix blood with additive.

Specimen must be transported to the lab immediately.

Centrifugation of the specimen must be done by the coagulation department.

Interpretation

Patients with platelet count <50,000 /mm³ can result in test limitations

Monday through Friday 7:00AM- 12:00PM, Must be scheduled in advance, Not performed on weekends or CAMC holdiays
