Specimen Requirements

Using clear Scotch tape, collect specimen as follows:

1. Specimen is best obtained 1 to 3 hours after patient has went to sleep or first thing in morning before bath or bowel movement. 
2. Separate buttocks and press sticky side of tape against several areas of perianal region.
3. Place tape on a clear glass slide.
4. Label slide with patient’s name.
5. Place slide in a cardboard slide container.
